Creative practice brief generator
A small prompt can be enough to get you making. Try an original exercise in design, lighting, photography or short-form writing.
A more welcoming threshold
Sketch a lighting idea that helps a visitor recognise the entrance to a community building after dark.
Your constraint
Use one light source and show how you would avoid shining it towards neighbouring windows.
What to make
One annotated sketch and a 100-word explanation of the user need, lighting approach and one trade-off.
Review: Is the entrance clear? Who might still struggle? What would you test on site?
These are original practice exercises, not live competitions. There is no prize or submission deadline. The generator selects from a written collection; it does not use AI.
Use a practice brief as an experiment
Set a time limit that suits your day. Make something small enough to finish, then review it against the constraint. The point is to practise responding to a brief, not to produce a polished portfolio piece every time.
Keep the first version. Try a second approach that changes one decision, such as viewpoint, audience or the amount of explanation. Comparing two deliberate alternatives can teach you more than endlessly adjusting the same draft.
Move from practice to a real entry
A real organiser’s brief always takes priority. Check originality, previous-publication and AI rules before adapting anything you have made elsewhere. Use the planner for a real competition and the counter for an accompanying explanation.
